California Vacations, Tourism and California Travel Reviews

By Jean Pierre Prieur

California, the golden state, is the home of beautiful people, gorgeous scenery, romantic hideaways, and fine food. Whatever your lifestyle, there is something here for you. From the mountains to the incredible seashores, its wonders never cease to amaze. It is a land of extremes, running the gamut of landscapes from deserts to beaches to redwoods, and from its soaring mountains to its peaceful valleys of its famous wine country. California is famous for its laid-back attitude and progressive nature. There is much to see and every area and city has their own special treasures.

San Diego is a sun-lover's getaway. Not only is the weather great most of the year, the Pacific Ocean offers clean beautiful beaches to take a romantic walk or to enjoy a boat trip on one of the local cruise lines. This hip area has unique boutiques to stroll through. Because it is the second largest city in California, there are plenty of places to see and explore. It truly is a great place for a romantic getaway.

Picture yourself and that special someone riding along in a convertible on Mulholland Drive in Los Angeles. While winding around the road in the Santa Monica Mountains, you two can stop at one of the scenic roadside look-outs and view the sights of Los Angeles from aloft. The memories the two of you share will warm the heart for a life time. At Long Beach, along the shores of San Pedro Bay, you can take a cruise in a Gondola. Explore each other's thoughts as you sail down the canals of Naples. You two can dine at a romantic Japanese Sushi Bar and enjoy fine crafted cocktails or a glass of exquisite Rice Wine. Spend your nights right on the sand in Santa Monica hotel. Swim in the roof top pools or relax in the Hot tub. Hotels in Los Angeles have plenty to offer and are very accommodating.

In Santa Barbara, you must - absolutely must - stay at the incredibly romantic Simpson House. Each room of this historical house is a uniquely decorated masterpiece. Your accommodations will be so comfortable that it may take some effort to get you out to explore the exquisitely landscaped grounds and the picturesque town of Santa Barbara. Here you will find very unusual and upscale shops, and memorable restaurants. You might prefer to stretch out and relax on the beach, a short walk from the Simpson House.

San Francisco, that magical city by the bay, is a lover's Mecca. So many sites: so much to see, so much to do! Absolute musts here include: little cable cars, Fisherman's Wharf, and, of course, Chinatown. Take a trip across the Golden Gate Bridge. Stroll the Presidio and immerse yourself in absolute luxury at the landmark Fairmont Hotel. Tony Bennett had it all right about this city.

For a taste of high-style desert living, Palm Springs is its own wonderland: a place where the rich and famous congregate in the desert air to golf, dine and otherwise enjoy the beauty of this magnificent landscape. Check into the timeless Hotel California, from where you can explore the desert scenery, find a favorite artist in the area, or just crash poolside in the dry desert air. It's marvelous. It's California.

California is certainly a lovers' destination. There are many different places to vacation in the state where it is possible to find sun, snow, mountains or desert destinations at any time of the year. Anyone wanting a romantic getaway should certainly put California on the list.
