By Marci Glover

In the past few decades, tourism has become a popular activity and people are now dedicating more of their time on recreation. Many people are quickly spending their leisure time doing fun activities in different ways. Guided bear hunts is one method of recreation that many people have considered practicing where they visit some camps and hunt bears mainly for the fun while being guided by professional hunters. There are special companies that do this work.

Their main hunting trips are carried out for a specific period of time like three weeks. There is usually a vast piece of land where the activity is carried out. It is normally their responsibility to make sure that this land is secure and that their visitors will not be disturbed by any other hunters.

This activity usually takes place in an area that has many bears like those with many blackberries, raspberries or blueberries. The hunt is usually conducted using bait that is left at a safe distance that will ensure the visitors are not attacked by any animals. It is not only the experienced hunters that are normally welcomed to these trips but also the first timers. This is because of the availability of the experienced guides that offer the visitors with hunting education.

The visitors are usually required to book the trips in advance so that the guides are able to prepare for their stay. Once they arrive they are normally given an orientation of the activities taking place. They are usually provided with tips for placement of the bait, how to size the bear, how to take the shot, controlling their emotions and many other important things in relation to this trip. All weapons are usually welcomed ranging from firearms and bows.

The visitors are provided with different types of packages. The packages differ depending on the length of time they wish to stay. Their cabins are normally prepared so that the visitors have a place to stay in between the hunt missions. There are rewards for the hunters who do a pleasant job. These gifts may be in the form of trophies.

What the vacationers pay the charge for the outing it provides for all the activities that take place on the trip. This includes the cost of the escorts, the bait and transport from the action site to the cottages, ground dressing and retrieval. Photographs are permissible on the journey and the award winners are commonly permitted to ship their awards to the cabins.

After catching the bear, there is a process that it undergoes. First it is hanged up and the weight is recorded. After that they are cleaned and then hanged down and the hunters wait for instructions on what to do next. The company takes the responsibility of butchering the bear and helping to pack it. Later the meat is left in the custody of the hunter and they take responsibility of the transportation fee.

This kind of activity is recreational and gives someone an outdoor experience that is very fun and mind engaging. It is an advisable method of spending free time for people who like challenges. This is an adventure that carries many experiences in one which makes it more fun.
