Prevent Your Dream Vacation From Turning Into A Nightmare With These Simple Tips

By Fred Sherman

As exciting as traveling can be, the planning process for it is not so much fun. Getting everything in order and making sure the trip will be safe and enjoyable can be an intimidating task. Read this article to learn how to plan a trip and enjoy it.

If you travel to a foreign city, keep a lookout for people pretending to be police or law enforcement. Never give them your original passport as you may never see it again. If you are made to go to an office, do so by foot. Do not get into the car of someone you do not know.

Before purchasing a package deal for travel, check out the prices of the individual components. In many cases, the package deals are cheaper than buying the pieces separately, but not always. It never hurts to check out pricing for yourself before becoming locked in to purchasing the whole package, and you might discover there's a part of the package you don't want, such as meals.

Study up on the language of the area you are planning to travel to before you leave. Language barriers can be tricky. Obviously, you can manage in a foreign country without speaking the language. Even so, it is always a good idea to brush-up on important words like "police" or "hospital."

Always pack a map when you travel, even if you have a GPS system. GPS systems are not always reliable. If it were to malfunction or become broken, you would be lost. A highlighter can be helpful as well, allowing you to mark your map for easy reference. As a bonus, your well-used and marked up map, makes an excellent memento to remember your trip by.

When you know you will be on an airplane for an extended amount of time, make sure you dress for the occasion. Wearing tight jeans will not be comfortable and will make you miserable by the end of the ride. Try sweatpants or a loose fitting cotton dress.

This travel tip goes out to all those who are proud to be Americans. You know who you are and you're terrific. The only thing is, if you travel globally, you embarrass our country if you engage in loud, flag-waving, obnoxious behavior. You will make a far better ambassador for the U.S., if you make an effort to observe the cultural and behavioral norms around you and adjust your volume and actions, accordingly.

Bus travel is a great way to see the country side. It allows you an inexpensive way to get from destination to destination while sitting back and allowing someone else to do the driving. You will get to enjoy the scenery and even have frequent stops to see each place, without having to spend too much or bother with gas expenses.

With so many resources available for travelers, there is no reason to let your impending trip leave you stressed out and anxious. Rather than allowing yourself to miss out on the excitement and spontaneity of a recreational trip, remember the advice in this article to make the most out of your time abroad.
