5 Reasons to Exercise In the Morning

By Natalie Cappetta

It doesn't matter what your reasoning is behind starting a workout routine, just as long as it starts in the morning. Morning activity is an essential aspect of creating a healthier lifestyle. You'll experience instant reward and gratification, even if you can only spare a marginal amount of time. Here are five reasons to motivate you to begin the day with a little movement:

1. Consistency. Research shows that 90% of people who exercise on a consistent basis do it in the morning.

2. A metabolism kick. Activity in the morning revs up your metabolism, which in turn burns calories for the remainder of the day! You may stop moving but those calories won't!

3. Energy. Rather than rely on a body pumped with caffeine, rely on your body's natural source of energy. The more often you exercise, the more vibrant you'll be throughout the day and possibly into the night.

4. Mental and physical health. Your physical health is just as important as your mental health, and a workout routine will help to set them at equilibrium. Keeping active allows for an escape and a period where you can recharge. Exercise can be a time that you learn to cherish.

5. Community. Having a social routine can better serve you in regards to maintenance. By participating with other like-minded individuals, you can share your successes, your lack of motivation, and a laugh, which is recommended.

All the benefits of a morning run outweigh the downfalls, if there's any, so get going! Every Tuesday morning at 7:30AM The Gym Team is now running a free weekly outdoor fitness class in Portman Square. It's only 45 minutes, which is solid but not too unbearable and is perfect for all fitness levels.

Meet at the Gym Reception.
