What Guests Can Expect From Kamloops Motels

By Leigh Bean

Located in beautiful British Columbia, Canada, sits the town of Kamloops, which is nestled comfortably at the confluence of the North and South Thompson Rivers. The town is well known for its outdoor activities and adventures as well as its many different tournaments and fun events. Both locals and visitors alike enjoy themselves in the area's grasslands, canyons, and timberline forests. Kamloops motels also offer guests the chance to relax and unwind in pure comfort and style.

Healthy living, green tourism, adventure activities, and more make this town a top pick for many. The many lakes and rivers in the area, numbering more than one hundred, make water activities such as kayaking, canoeing, swimming, and fishing especially popular. Other popular activities include hiking, bird watching, camping, and biking.

In addition to its many outdoor activities and spaces, this quaint town is also quite proud of their artistic heritage and fostering of such things as a thriving gallery scene as well as art and music festivals. The many different festivals and events held throughout the year are one of the biggest draws to this rather small town of under 90,000 residents.

Due to its somewhat mild winters and its temperate climate, the town is available to outdoor activities every month of the year. Some of the best wildlife viewing, skiing, and golfing is available in the area, which only serves to grow the area's tourism with each passing season. For those travelers more interested in history and culture, the town certainly does not lack.

The area and town are steeped in native heritage and culture, with the First Nations having a strong presence. Before the arrival of settlers and traders from Europe, Kamloops was home to the Secwepemc natives; a group that still has strong ties, affect, and a presence in the town today. One of the biggest event of the area that caused much growth was the 1860s gold rush.

For day trippers to weekenders to in-depth travelers this destination has something to offer everyone no matter their desires or budget. Because of its popularity and many available activities, there are many different lodging options in the town and in the areas nearby. A wide range of hotels, motels, and bed and breakfasts are readily available for a broad range of prices and with a wide range of offerings.

Travelers and visitors looking for more simple and less expensive accommodations, there are many options as well. These include RV sites, secluded campgrounds, and even a few hostel or shared options. The nearby communities, Cache Creek, Merritt, and Ashcroft, also offer accommodations and camping sites-which is something many visitors do so that they can see more of the area.

In the middle of town is a well appointed visitor center where people can pick up literature and ask questions. This is a wonderful place to find the best dining, shopping, and activity options as well as some of the finest Kamloops motels. Close by the center is Riverside Park as well as a nice shopping mall where visitors can spend some time unwinding and enjoying the local atmosphere and flair.
