How to Potty Train on the Move

By John Rossi

The potty training period of a child's life can be quite a challenge for several parents. While teaching very good bathroom routines can be difficult in the surroundings of your own house, toilet training and traveling might appear to be an impossible combination to overcome. The following guide provides simple tips and tricks on how to toilet train children while on a trip.

When traveling, it can be challenging to ensure that children have good restroom habits. The simplest way to make sure the kids have very good bathroom routines is through the application of proper training and education. By giving children the tools that they need to learn about proper bathroom behavior, it's possible to make sure high levels of hygiene that you apply in the house are used on the road.

Many children hate community toilets. Whilst they are also resented by many adults, we usually have no concern in using a relatively clean public toilet. However, youngsters will often go to great programs to avoid most of these toilets because it's just "not the same as home".

To ensure cleanliness you could consider using a booster seat - a tiny plastic addition that can be coupled to the top of any toilet. Since your child's body is only going to come in contact with the booster seat, there's no need to concern yourself with the risk of bodily contamination. Additionally, many young children prefer the experience of using their own potty training gadgets.

It's also recommended that you give children a feeling of independence with their daily toilet habits. Whilst it's good of you to offer assistance with younger children who have issues using a restroom, it's not a good idea to coddle youngsters as they age. In many cases, this will cause kids to develop and dependence on the adult or even respond with undesirable or inappropriate behavior.

The most important thing to do when potty training on the go is to ensure that you stop every hour. Children don't have the bodily self-control to hold urine when they are small so having a long wait between bathroom visits can result in accidents.
