Finding The Past While Staying At Downtown Cleveland Hotels

By Jean Daniels

Almost all places that have a city center are the areas that made the region come to life in the beginning of its existence. This is where the first settlers came to build their homes and establish places of business. From their humble beginnings rose cities that created focal points to display the wonder and achievements that defined who they were. When visiting the places and choosing to stay at downtown Cleveland hotels, the past is often just steps away from the front door.

Not all places were developed at the same time, or for the same reasons, and when you can take an evening walk you will discover much of the original purpose for the community. Some places are much older than others and were created long before modern civilizations were developed. All that remains is old stone temples and structures that these ancient people used to fight and pray in. Their carved stone steps leading to place that no longer exists.

Some places started as mere locations along a dusty road that travelers used to cross the land. They stopped here for a little while to drink the fresh water and take a moments rest before something else was discovered that made it grow into a large metropolis.

Agriculture lands needed towns to perform their trading of crops and animals. In some places, the fields where the corrals housed the livestock, still hold the smell of their existence.

For towns that began as a place to launch boats for fishermen to use to catch fish and crabs, there can still be found the remains of old wharfs where their loved ones watched as they sailed off to sea.

Staying in downtown Cleveland hotels often puts you right in the middle of what once was, and what made the city become the place it is today.
