The Advantages Of Holidays In England

By Francis Kidd

Holidays in England are becoming increasingly popular as people look to save money. Although England is a mere 450 miles from north to south, there is a rich tapestry of history and culture to explore. For those looking for fun and excitement, there is also a number of stunning seaside and country locations to visit.

Road and rail links within the country are excellent and allow speedy journeys to be taken with ease. England is around 450 miles from north to south so excitement or stunning locations are never more than a few hours journey from each other. Many choose a touring holiday as the best way of seeing as much in one holiday as possible.

While there are several cities that gold a wealth of cultural and historical interest, the most popular by some distance is the capital, London. Currently one of the world's largest cities, the ancient Roman settlement is also home to over 2000 years of history. Despite its size, most of the tourist locations in the city are only a few miles from each other.

Manchester and Birmingham are currently England's second and third cities, having exploded in size during the industrial revolution. However, the smaller Roman cities of York, Chester and Bath have a much deeper well of history and heritage. There are several museums and locations of huge historical significance to explore.

As well as the more obvious urban locations, the English countryside has a huge amount to offer. The National Parks of the UK offer protection from aggressive development to large parts of rural England. This allows people to explore this stunning countryside freely and without hindrance.

The British coastal resort has seen a huge upturn in popularity in recent years. Towns like Blackpool, Brighton and Scarborough are popular with families as they feature many different forms of entertainment. This entertainment is largely geared towards the family and can be enjoyed throughout the whole day.
