Avila Beach Is A Vacation of Distinction

By Maria Russo

Your Avila Beach vacation is on the coast of California and this mostly bright spot is just what shore lovers want to make their beach holidays altogether complete. Assuredly, even a colossal treasury of fun like California features small pockets containing marvelous surprises adding beacons of joy to your California travels and Avila Beach is one such gem which you should not miss.

The beach itself is about one half mile long in size and is housed in the San Luis Bay by Point San Luis being inland and Fossil Point on the opposite side.

Due to its position on the beach between Point San Luis and Fossil Point and since it faces a southerly direction, Avila beach enjoys the best climate on the central coast. This makes it the warmest of other beaches on this section of the coast.

An Avila beach vacation would truly delight you in this matchless and beautiful town. There are many types of water sports open including of course surfing. Yes, other things do await besides laying on the beach all day in Avila Beach. Consider options other than your typical surfing, sunning, and fishing. There' s the Marine Institute to learn about the indigenous marine life close to Avila Beach. Also the Avila Wine Trail offers a nice diversion from the ocean.

Another wonderful thing to do is take a soak in one of a handful of resorts offering therapeutic mineral waters. Sycamore Mineral Springs Resort is one such establishment. This resort which is cradled in the ravine between Avila Beach and Highway 101 taps into the water in a nearby hill-side which has been bubbling forth hot, energizing waters ever since being discovered by oil men at the turn of the century. In case you want to lodge elsewhere, it is not necessary to be a guest at the Sycamore to enjoy a good soak. A dozen or more hot tubs adhere to a steep wood studded hillside and can be accessed by paths and steps. Tubs can be leased by visitors for less than fifty dollars for two for an hour.

Avila Beach is a laid-back town nestled by sloping hills with the added pleasure of restaurants on the pier. You can even lease a place to stay with local owners for your Avila beach vacation if a hotel doesn't appeal to you.

Avila beach is largely undeveloped in part due to community involvement. Generally there is little change in temperature year-round with 70s during summer days and 60s from November to April which also serves as the rainy winter season.

Avila beach is a year-round weather paradise with day time temperatures ranging from the sixty's in the winter and seventy's during the summer.

Are you looking for an uncomplicated nice beach vacation with small town charm and history? I'll wager the answer is yes and I am sure an Avila beach vacation is in the near future for you and your crew.
