Is Sailing Around The World With Kids Dangerous?

By Linda Ruiz

There are people who really love adventure that they consider sailing the best experience one can ever have. This exposes them to a lot of scenery but sometimes it can be life threatening. Many people fear sailing around the world with kids because of the kind of danger it exposes the children to. There are some things that they can observe to make sure these children are kept safe.

A few months ago, there was a sailing family that decided to include their one year old daughter in the adventure. Their boat malfunctioned and their baby got sick thus they had to call the rescue center. This incident really highlighted the dangers of cruising with little children making people to think that those who choose this life for their children are crazy.

Some of the risks that may encounter these sailors while on their adventures may include things like the illnesses that may catch them while they are on remote locations that have no modern amenities. The sea sometimes has very heavy storms that may be dangerous especially for the kids. The children who are raised this way also miss a lot of things that normal children experience and this may not be fair to them.

As much as this is not a life for everyone, some sailors seem to think that it is a life that may also include children. The risk that they are exposed to can be balanced with the remarkable experience and the skill that they learn when on these trips.

These cruising parents say that the normal kids also have their own share of risks and that their parents also have things they love to do. They say that they know the limit of their adventures and they can handle it when the risks are too many. People say that the cruising parents re very selfish because they cannot give up their adventures for their children. The sailors however believe that their children are not on the boat because of inconveniences but because they chose to share their experiences with them.

The experiences of youngsters have a great influence on their lives especially on their manners, their conceptual and bodily health. These kids do not have the chance to connect with others and therefore they end up being anti-social. They also miss many school practices because they get schooled at home as opposed to attending a conventional school like others do.

Sailing is truly a fun experience but sailors must also be considerate of the risk their children are put in. If this is an adventure one must take, they can at least wait until their kids have grown older and not take them as infants. The young children are very delicate in terms of health therefore are not safe on a sailing boat.

When children have grown older, they can also have the power to say if they enjoy sail trips or not. Their parents usually take them when they are too young to let their feelings known. These parents cannot be sure that this is the kind of life the children want.
