You will use a sturdy stand to make the rod steady while threading its guides. You can buy it at any store or make yourself. You can create an easy one by cutting a cardboard on its ends, to create it laying flat and cut its whole side, so that you make use it in as a tool for thread tension.

A guide may be seen there, that guide will be necessarily have to take care of, particularly in using it as the threading guide.
