Novalja is the main tourist centre of the island Pag. It is positioned in a small bay on the north-west part of the island. It is attractive for a number of beautiful sandy and pebbly beaches in numerous bays that surround the town. The most famous of all is Zre Beach, located between pine forests and crystal clear waters. It is a true gem of the Adriatic.

In summer, terraces of various cafes and snack bars create a special atmosphere, where guests can find refreshment and have fun. Novalja was hiding remains of three basilicas. The biggest one is in the centre of the town and is the biggest basilica ever found on the Dalmatian coast. At the foot of the hill which separates Novalja from the Valley (Novaljsko Polje) lays a roman aqueduct Talijanova Bua (Italian Hole). It is a unique example of its kind, the longes aqeduct in the Northeast Europe. There are lot of valuable remains such as Ilyrian fortification from the 1500 B.C., St. George - Roman fortification, lot of small Croatian churches, Castle, Duke's palace and other valuable remnants.

Novalja is a home to a very attractive old wheel dance "Naki" performed in exceptionally rich folk costumes. There are still very much alive original folkloral literature, tales, songs and humorous tales as well as chants characterized by melos of Istria and the Croatian Littoral on one hand and North Dalmatian melos on the other hand giving them a special Dalmatian feature.

On the beaches, visitors can enjoy rich program of recreational activities and sports. The visitors, especially young population, spend evenings in Cocomo Club in Novalja as well as day and night parties on the beach Zre in clubs Kalypso, Aquarious, Papaya, Noa and Pepermint. During the Summer Novalja organises variety of entertainment and cultural events.
