Tips For Taking Tropical Trips

By Rick Jenkenns

Now is the time of year to get to your local travel pro and start planning that summer time tropical getaway. I've made plenty of such trips, and here is some quick advice for those of you looking to get to warmer latitudes this year!

What Months To Go

This is the most important of all considerations. You can probably get cheaper prices at certain times of the year, but you should wonder if it is the rainy season in the place you are going! You also might consider that even down in the tropics, it can get a little chilly in the evenings during the winter and this may spoil some of your fun. Check with your travel agent before booking and make sure the weather is going to fit in with what you want to get done.

Where To Go and What To Pay

If you are not a big world traveler, you may find that most places in the Caribbean are very similar in looks and service, but much different in pricing. As an example, a trip to Cancun Mexico will offer you world class powdery sand beaches and crystal blue waters for a price 30% less than a similar vacation to the Cayman Islands.

Another idea is to ask your travel agent what areas are new to travel but getting popular. These areas will offer big discounts. A great place for this is Punta Cana.

Accommodations

As far as I am concerned, "all inclusive" resorts are where the best value is. An all inclusive plan will most importantly include all you can eat and all you can drink. This means no hassles and you can more easily stay within a budget. Just be sure to stay at one of the higher rated resorts where the food is usually better and the drinks of the premium sort!

Don't Drink The Water

I know you have heard to never drink the water in Mexico, but really you should apply that advice to anywhere you go outside of the United States. You just don't want to take a chance on ruining your vacation with bowel problems. Just find bottled water and you are all good.

At the end of the day, your main purpose should be to have fun. Just go to paradise and let loose! The good news is that once you try one place, there are still dozens more left to try next year!
