Grand Bend Accommodation In Ontario For A Great Lakes Holiday

By Ruthie Calderon

For those looking for an idyllic Canadian beach holiday in Ontario, there's no better place than Grand Bend along the shores of Lake Huron. It's a Great lakes summer hotspot that attracts thousands of visitors from all over, including many from places like Florida, New York and Texas. So it's a good idea to book early when it comes to Grand Bend accommodation.

Obviously, the choice of the type of accommodations and the location is important. Everybody wants to stay in their own private vacation rental right on or close to the main beach. Unfortunately, that may not be possible for those on a limited budget.

However, that still leaves open a large collection of diverse lodging options. There are a huge number of rentals in the streets close to or even on Main Street. Many have partial lake views and are also easily accessible from the Bluewater Highway or Ontario Street, which basically depends on which way a traveler is driving into town from.

A whole bunch of inns, B&Bs, hotels and motels can be found lined up along Ontario St. As it nears the center of town. Some more are on the other side for those driving in using the Bluewater Hwy. All of these properties close to the town center are suitable for visitors who are staying for a few days and want to explore the entire area and all its attractions.

Speaking of attractions, one of the main things that draws people here is the Motorplex. The Grand Bend Motorplex hosts Canada's oldest and largest drag race, and it draws huge crowds too. People who are in town for this may want to find campsites, RV parks and budget lodging within easy reach.

Otherwise, the big draw for visitors is Lake Huron. People come here for the beach, and for fishing, watersports, boating, hiking and other waterfront activities. It would no doubt be nice to be able to find accommodations offering a view of the lake and easy access to the water.

To take it one step further, a private vacation home close to the lakeshore is an ideal choice for families and large groups. So this family with kids could book a home with three bedrooms. It would provide a lot more space, comfort and amenities as compared to a hotel room, and it would be quite economical too.

Make sure it has its own parking space for two or more vehicles, along with the usual amenities such as a fully equipped kitchen. Cable, Wi-Fi or high-speed broadband Internet, music systems, DVD players, microwaves and refrigerators are quite common. So are pullout couches that can accommodate one or more extra guests in the home. It's also possible to have maids, cooks and other help available on call, if required.

It's advisable to find and reserve such a place at least three or four months before the actual trip during the summer holidays. Otherwise, it will be well nigh impossible to find good accommodation in Grand Bend at the last minute. Besides, picking the right place to stay will make the holiday experience that much more fun and highly memorable afterwards.
