By Kyle Olsen

South Africa is one of the most preferred vacation destinations worldwide. Granted, summer is the most preferred time of year as this season is warm and dry, which allows for plenty to see and do, young and old.

You can't go wrong when selecting South Africa holidays as your first option. Even us, the locals, Capetonians, Durbanites, Jo'burgers, we understand, and appreciate, that our own country has a great deal to offer by way of sights and entertainment for everyone, even the "difficult" one in the family will be thrilled and enjoy themselves completely, when going to South Africa for a, or "The" holiday.

When you decide to check out SA, the logical, first option destination is Cape Town. Cape Town is called the Mother City and rivals a few of the most lovely cities worldwide. In reality, it is believed that Cape Town beats Sydney and San Francisco hands down, as the world's best city. No argument there! And just to make the point stronger, Cape Town has gained award after award for World's Cleanest Beach and Africa's Leading Destination, just to name 2 ... of the 22 awards!

South Africa has always been known as the Gem of Africa. It is a sensational and big continent that has incredible wild life and lavish flora. It likewise has more than twenty National Parks, Nature Reserves and World Heritage sites. South Africa has an astounding coastline that runs for over 3500 kilometers and some of the most beautiful wine estates and boasts impressive cultural sites and tracks. There is no doubt why this country has been crowned the Jewel of Africa.

Another landmark of Cape Town is the V&A (Victoria and Alfred) Waterfront, which has a massive mall with a big and really diverse , food court. At night, the V&A changes into a wonderland of noise and light as the restaurants fill up and live bands can be heard all over. You can even book a meal on a floating dining establishment and enjoy the waterfront view from the deck of a boat.

You can likewise delight in spectacular nature scenes when the wild flowers burst into bloom in the spring which calls forth all the stunning birds, for those who take pleasure in bird watching. For those who desire to see something a little larger, there is also whale watching.
