Promotional Gifts Are An Effective Way To Get Business

By Lyndon Zema

The use of promotional gifts is a valuable addition to any company's marketing campaign. Consumer studies have revealed that customers are more influenced and likely to buy from or deal with a company by being presented with useful items bearing its name and logo than by simply watching or reading an advertisement.

The average return on investment which results from handing out promotional products is considerably higher than any other type of advertising. One consumer study revealed that more than half of people surveyed had done business with a company which had given them some kind of promo item earlier on. Yet, this effective marketing strategy can also cost much less than expensive media advertising campaigns.

There are a wide range of items companies can choose from to promote their business. Some of these are more useful and than others, so it's important to select those which are somewhat original and ideally they will tie in with the specific nature of the business.

It's not the best idea for a company to only choose the least expensive giveaway items since these are generally of lesser value in terms of how useful they are and are therefore more likely to simply be discarded, which would defeat their purpose in the first place. The smartest approach is to select products which are both handy, relevant to what the company sells, and which are somehow tied in with their ad campaign in general.

Some of the most popular choices in promo products include pens, cups, hats, and t-shirts. If a company is looking to build brand loyalty, it can be effective to select items such as binders or calculators with the company name and logo. When trying to establish a name for one's company in the marketplace, it's best to give out a unique and memorable item that is different from the rest.

These items can be further classified into "common" and "specialized" categories. The former are those which are kept on-hand in the office to present to customers at the end of a meeting. Whereas the latter are normally reserved for handing out at such events as trade shows or to a specific niche of customers.

Prices of purchasing promotional gifts vary and are largely based on which type of items they are. Establishing a solid relationship with a quality supplier who values their clients and offer fair rates for buying in large quantities is important. Many merchants will also honor repeat purchases with additional discounts.
