And The Radiant Bride Wore White - A Key West Florida Beach Wedding Story

By Peter Estenoz

This Key West Florida wedding story begins on beautiful sands framed by the sparkling waters found in Key West. Imagine soft breezes, warm sand and the gentle song of waves breaking along the shore.

Think about a stunning young woman, attired in a dress of simple cotton, walking regally and shoeless down the beach toward her intended spouse. Her gown is not elaborate, and is also nontraditional, but is befitting of the setting. As she dances down the sand, soft breezes blow through the fabric of her gown and her hair, adding a fantasy element to the scene. Her lack of shoes adds a touch of whimsy. After all, who would wear shoes at the beach?

Tiny flower girls, dressed in miniature versions of the bridal gown accompany her along the beach. They carry woven baskets decorated with sea shells and filled with bright, local flowers. Their feet, like those of the bride, are also bare.

The couple stands under an arch composed of ocean shells, ribbons and rattan, enhanced with bright local blooms. The gentle winds give life to the ribbons as they drift softly in the air. The vast warm sands and tranquil water provide a sense of unlimited freedom.

Protection from the sun for guests is supplied by a white canopy. The area is also festooned with shells from the ocean and ribbons, mirroring those on the arch under which the radiant couple stand. Bright local flora is also arrayed in white baskets scattered throughout the canopied are. The guests' feet are also unshod, in accordance with the motif established by the bride. Many of the guests are attired in festive clothing which echoes the motif of lightness, comfort and festive freedom.

The wedding ceremony is magical and lovely. The couple shines in their joy, and their happiness inspires the guests. Once the ceremony is concluded, the celebration is moved to a pavilion, where a dance floor, music and meal await.

Music begins as the wedding party approaches and the couple move on to the dance floor for their first dance. The bride, in her floating gown and bare feet is a vision of joy and beauty as she dances in her partners arms. The second dance is with her tiny bridesmaids, who form a fairy circle with her and create more magic, dancing in their matching dresses and bare feet. A fittingly magical sight on a magical day!
