An unforeseen situation may happen to anyone in this world no matter the geographical area one is living in. This may include fire, earthquake, tsunami or war. These occurrences may force people to vacate from their houses without a notice hence there should always be packed emergency survival kits for each and every member of the family, the following is a list of the essentials to pack in the kit.

The first thing to consider packing is a first aid box which has all the required equipment to attend to an injured person that cannot be able to access a medical facility as soon as possible. This is very important because many people get injured due to the disaster that can happen either fire, earthquake or war hence the need for medical attention.

There is no human being that can survive without water, it is recommended to include several liters of water that can last for four days and should be enough for the whole family. The water may have various use while away from home, it can be used for drinking, cleaning wounds or even for washing eating staffs that may be carried along.

Some people live with the help of specific medication due to the diseases they may be having so it is recommended to pack all the medicines that any family member takes on a daily basis. Inhalers should not be forgotten either if there is an asthmatic person in the family. Almost every medicine has its expiry date so it would be a good idea to check if they have expired and replace them with the most recent medication.

Fire is an essential thing that all human beings need no matter where they are. The kit must have matchbox that would be used to light fire. One may decide to pack a small gas cooker or use firewood instead which would be collected once there is a disaster. Fire will have various use out there such as scaring away wild animals, cooking and keeping people warm at night.

Carrying foodstuffs is recommended as well. The foodstuffs packed should not be perishable for it is supposed to last as many days as possible until help is found. Easy and fast to cook food is recommended because people may not have a lot of time to wait for food to be ready and also the fire may be limited due to lack of firewood or gas.

No emergency survival kit should lack cutlery. This includes a knife that will be very helpful during the days away from home. A knife has many uses, it may be used for defense purposes or for preparing food or even used to cut ropes or tree stalks that may be used to make up a small shelter for the family. So one should not forget to pack a knife for it is very important for survival.

Clothes are also very important for survival. Carrying a few clothes is recommended to keep warm at night or on rainy days. Each and every member of the family should have some clothes packed in case of an emergency for some clothes may become dirty or some may be torn during the crises.
