By Dominique Martin

If you would like to see the most popular attraction of South America in a single journey, take one of really interesting combined tours. Machu Picchu Galapagos packages might be the best solution, because they combine two of their most popular tourist attractions into one incredible travel experience. Two weeks of a pure pleasure, exploring some of the most beautiful places on the world, it really sounds great.

Once you come to Peru, you can explore Cusco, the center of Inca's empire. From there, you can proceed to the legendary Sacred Valley. On your way, you can stop in a small town of Ollantaytambo, to see really interesting Inca's fortress. Once there, you could take a train. The train follows the Urumba River, on the way to a famous Inca's city.

Built in the fifteenth century, probably by Inca's emperor Pachacuti, this city is certainly one of the most valuable examples of Inca's architecture. Built of precisely shaped stone blocks and chips, it was designed to resist to different seismic activities quite common in this area. Some parts of these stone walls had to be reconstructed, but they are mostly saved in their original state.

The city was deserted after only one century, and there are numerous theories about the reason for this. Some believe there was an epidemic of chickenpox, brought by conquistadors. Sacred stones are all preserved, thanks to the fact that Spanish didn't know about this place. Anyway, it was buried deep in the jungle until discovered by Hiram Bingham, in 1911.

Machu Picchu is surrounded by sacred land, and some scientists believe that it was built to honor it. Others assume it was dedicated to the Virgins of the Sun. In fact, there are so many theories about it. For some time, it was believed that Machu Picchu was the mysterious Lost City, but after the real one was found, this theory no longer stands. The important thing is that this incredible place is here to explore it.

Incredible beauty of Galapagos Islands will give you entirely different experience, but equally stunning. This whole area is one unique marine ecosystem, and you won't find anything similar anywhere else. Specific, isolated location and constant seismic and volcanic activities shaped this amazing place. The diversity of plant and animal life here is simply fascinating. Don't miss this amazing experience.

These unique ecosystems are so incredible that inspired Charles Darwin to write his Evolution Theory. He was here in 1834. There are so many specific life forms here, including different animal and bird species such as flightless cormorant, for example, or unique marine iguanas. Various endemic plants and incredible variety of bird species make this place a true Eden.

The archipelago's geology is equally unique. Three major tectonic plates meet here, and you will find very young and very old islands in the same archipelago. Underwater spectacle offers such a diversity of different marine life forms, that this cannot be found anywhere in the world. Amazing corals, marine mammals, sharks and other underwater life forms offer simply stunning diving experience.
