NYC Parks: Washington Square Park

Washington Square Park, Manhattan, is located in Manhattan's Greenwich Village and is a favorite local park for residents and holiday makers, as well. Events in Washington Square Park are countless and some of the hottest include concerts, outside theatre, art and varied workshops.



Free Summer Concerts

The Washington Square Music Festival 2011 kicks off in July and will have concerts each Tuesday evening at 8:00 pm. This concert series will run from July thru August. Come join us for a night of beautiful jazz and classical music with musical director Lutz Rath. This year, the Washington Square Musical Festival will celebrate 53 years of free concerts and is the second oldest free classical music series in NY. The concerts are found in front of the Holley Statue in the heart of Washington Square. In case of rain, concerts will be moved to St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Churchin Greeewich Village

NYLaughs ' Laughter in the Park 2011

NyLaughs ' Laughter in the Park is a free comedy series that runs for eleven weeks, beginning August 14, 2011, from 2:00-4:00 pm. Location is at Holley Plaza. Patrons should enter thru Washington Square west and walk east.

Mommy/Daddy and Me Photography Workshop

The NY City Photo Safari (newyorkcityphotosafari.com) will be building a fun filled photograph workshop for Moms, Dads and kids, ages 8-13. This workshop will occur on October 2, 2011 from 9:00-11:00 am. Learn the way to enhance your photography talents by taking photos of the encompassing environment and taking family stills. You are sure to enjoy this special afternoon with your child or children. Classes are $150. (for one parent and one youth) and this price incorporates a great quality 8X10 of your best photograph. You have to bring your own electronic camera and, if possible, it is best to bring additional cameras - one for you and one for your youngster. The Mommy/Daddy and Me is at 5th Avenue and Washington Square North, Manhattan.
