Hi this is Kish here discussing the breathtaking Dubai entertainment options.
Dubai is one of the most happening cities in the world today. Dubai is even regularly referred to as the City of Gold, Festival City, and the Shopping Capital of the Middle East. Dubai has dramatically transformed ever since I moved there in 1994.
As far as Dubai entertainment is concerned, Dubai City could easily be compared to cities such as New York, London, Paris, etc. In fact, you would find everything which all these different cities have to offer in one hot spot location; you got it right- Dubai! Look at my top things to do in Dubai list here.
Some of the other points of interest of Dubai comprise the various parks in Dubai, shopping malls, Dubai nightlife and restaurants.
MOE (as the general public would call it) which is the largest mall in the Middle East consists of about 2,400,000 sq feet of shopping space, gaming area, movie theatres, art gallery, and scrumptious cuisines from all across the globe. Its biggest claim to fame is the indoor ski slope, Ski Dubai.
The World Class Waterfront Lifestyle Resort of Dubai Festival City is another destination which should not be missed. It consists of shopping, dining, entertainment, homes, schools, hotels, and offices in one place. This sub area of Dubai City provides a good microcosm of what Dubai entertainment is all about!
Spread along the Dubai creek, it gives a feel of the river walk in San Antonio (hey I live in Texas now!), just a much cleaner and nicer version. And then there is the ever-popular Dubai Gold Market or Souk. Souk translates into a traditional market in Arabic.
Set in the heart of eastern Dubai's commercial business district Deira, this souk literally has gold everywhere. There are narrow lanes (like the alleys in Manhattan, but less scary), streets and buildings filled with gold and diamonds in this area and persons from all across the world trade almost exclusively in jewelry.
The souk has a lot to provide such as earrings, bracelets, pendants, rings, and necklaces. Just a fast fact- at any given time, gold, in excess of twenty five tons is showcased at the Gold Souk.
Little did I know that there is so much in Dubai, moving on to Dubai's night life. After all, when I moved out I was only seventeen years - not actually the partying age!
Bars and clubs easily stay open until 3 am and are situated all across the city in big touristy hotels. The dress codes are typically relaxed and big name DJ's are extremely common in Dubai, inspite of the fact that some don't permit jeans, sandals, or trainers. Dubai nightlife is a big piece of the complete Dubai entertainment package!
For a more mellow night out, you can chill at a coffee shop by the waterfront and smoke a smooth flavored tobacco from a shisha (hookah) pipe. Predominantly on the weekends, majority of the coffee shops and restaurants remain open till midnight or later. Or you can invariably kick back home and entertain yourself with great Dubai TV viewing.
Last but certainly not the least, Dubai restaurants incorporate flavors from all across the globe. From road side shawarmas (Middle Eastern style sandwich) and cocktail juices, to delicious meals in excellent hotels, no food junkie could leave this city disappointed. Dubai City is the place for you, if you love food!
