Mountains will never cease to amaze. They are an important life source. Most rivers and lakes start from mountains. These physical features are also a source of adventure. Every year, many people travel to Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, East Africa, so that to have an adventure of a lifetime. Climbing this rugged mountain is hard. Preparation should begin early. Last minute preparation will be of little of no help. Long before the exercise, one should start to train. There is need to have a plan of how the whole exercise will be handled. Those who do not plan are simply planning to fail. That is an old age saying that makes sense when it comes to mountain climbing.

Getting in shape is vital. A person should shed off those extra pounds because they will be a big luggage when ascending to the peak of the mountain. They are a number of tried and tested weight loss strategies. One should find a strategy that is devoid of hype. Anything that involves unreasonable workouts or fad diets should be shunned.

On top of carrying out a number of DIY measures, an individual should also join a highly reputable local gym so that to benefit from the varied kinds of fitness equipment that the gym has. Professional assistance available in a gym will greatly speed up the fitness process. One will also benefit from peer guidance obtained from other fitness enthusiasts.

Aerobic training must be done on a regular basis. A gym will have aerobic classes where gym members are taken through various steps. There will also be machines that will facilitate aerobic training. Other aerobic measures include running and biking. Running is the best exercise in the world because it effectively trains every single body part in the human body.

One must also lift weights. Strength is required. Going up a mountain is not an easy affair. One will need to be physically strong so that not to collapse along the way. Lifting weights, eating foods that are rich in proteins such as eggs and milk and using protein supplements, will make an individual stronger after some time.

Physical training is just one side of the story. The other side is involved with mental variables. Mountaineering is part physical and part mental. Thus, one should get in the right mental state. An individual needs to read real mountaineering stories to see what is actually involved in climbing Kilimanjaro. Such stories will make a person to be mentally prepared.
