You may decide to go to backcountry areas for recreation reasons. You can only enjoy yourself as required only if you do proper arrangements. In such areas, you are not likely to find developed campsites. It is important to do things in the right manner so as to enhance backcountry and outdoor safety. Research well so as to be conversant with routes to be followed and also how to react if you come across a challenge.

Type of attitude to have during the trip will have a great impact on your stay at the camp site. With good attitude, you will not only respect environment, but also you will find the trip very enjoyable. When you respect environment, there will be minimal chances of you tampering with natural resources. Respect will enable act in accordance with the law that has been put in place. Prioritizing safety is important.

Before you commence trip ensure you have survival gear, a GPS and a nice map. It is important to let your friends and family members on the rout you intend to follow. Letting them know the site you intend to camp and the time you intend to return home is beneficial. Minding local weather forecasts is important. At times, weather changes suddenly, it is therefore important for you to remain prepared for such changes.

Outdoor adventure can change to crises in case of; equipment failure, poor judgment, sudden illness, getting lost and unexpected injury. You can also be traumatized in case you encounter a dangerous wildlife. Keeping the aforementioned challenges in mind will help you prepare adequately. Indeed, proper planning will help you remain safe during the trip.

Some of animals that live in backcountry areas are grizzly bears, cougars and black bears. It is not only dangerous, but also frightening to encounter the aforementioned types of bears. To avoid finding yourself in such kind of circumstances avoid traveling alone. Moving in a larger group is much safer. Ensure you carry a bear spray and you know how to use it. It is advisable to make a lot of noise when nearing blind corners, streams and dense shrubs. Noise may help in driving away the bears.

It is not advisable to move with pets. Loose pets irritate and also attract bears. You and the rest of group members will be much safer in case you do not travel with pets. Be careful in areas you find claw marks, fresh digging and also beat scat. Cooking site must be situated around hundred meters far from sleeping areas.

Do not leave food remains carelessly. Proper methods must be used during their disposal. Put them in appropriate bag and seal it. Consider hanging the bag away from where you and the rest of group members spend the night. Clean and fresh pajamas should be used during the night.

It is not recommendable to drop litter anyhow. Collecting fossils, artifacts, wildflowers and rocks is highly prohibited. Consider taking photographs rather than collecting them. If you are to cross streams or rivers you must be extremely careful. Waterways tend to be very cold and may affect your health negatively if you happen to come into contact with them.
