What To Expect In Your Travel To Morocco

By Jaclyn Hurley

If thinking about a vacation any time soon, Morocco is a country you may need to consider. Even with its long history of colonization by France and Spain, most towns in the country will show a trace of their traditional, Islamic culture. You walk around some town like Fez and you can clearly feel presence of their traditional culture inherited from the Berber community since the time when the Moroccan kingdom stretched to Northern Spain from Senegal. At the same time, the country has fascinating geographical features such as the Mediterranean coast, mountain ranges and a vast sand-covered Sahara. Such features are rare and would make your travel to Morocco worthwhile.

One is sure to have plenty of fascinating features and scenery to enjoy. From the said mountain ranges, the Sahara desert and Atlantic coastal beaches, a visitor will definitely appreciate their time in this country. However, one needs to learn a few tips about the area to enable effective planning for their trip.

For instance, the widely used language here is Arabic. In this case, you are likely to hear most of this, often, when you crisscross different streets. Fortunately, many people speak Spanish, English or French, and will mostly address visitors in these languages. One certain thing is that they will throw in some terms in their dialect amidst conversations.

Your true consolation is that the beautiful country is full of peaceful people who can hardly harm you. This makes it safer to walk around even if you sometimes do not understand all the terms in their local dialect. Besides, their social, economic and political reforms have improved the national security of their country making it one of the safe nations to visit in this region. The move by King Mohammed VI has also seen many tourists visit the country lately.

Tourists have plenty of fun activities to take part in. One can choose to enjoy hiking at the Atlas Mountains, try their hand at fishing, visit the Mediterranean coastal beaches, or take part in Sahara excursions. Those looking for a quite time to unwind can stay in different resorts in Fez and other towns. Of importance is that people with different preferences will find something enjoyable to do in their visit to Morocco. The Moroccans are kind, hospitable and generous, making any visitor refreshed by interacting with them.

If you visit during the summer, the best places to hang around would be the coast and mountains. Avoid the desert, as it can be disturbingly hot, especially in the month of July and August. During spring, which comes around April and May, you will enjoy your time in most of the areas. The south, Atlantic coasts, the Mediterranean, and mountains experience a summer climate during this time.

During winter, it could be enjoyable to visit the Sahara. However, it grows very cold at night thus making it useful to seek accommodation in houses with proper heating systems. If spending in hotels, make sure to enquire before lodging. Otherwise, it could become unbearable for you.

Another important consideration for visitors to this country is the Islamic religious calendar. Their religious holidays such as Ramadan come with some changes that will interfere with your stay there. For instant, it could be challenging to find transport by public means during the one month day fasting season.
