The Uses Of Industrial Extension Ladders With Safety Precautions

By Leticia Jensen

A ladder is a useful tool especially in reaching things in high places. You can find in some houses. In most industries however, they are heavily used. They come in two kinds. They are the rigid and rope. The rigid is usually sided against the wall while the rope hangs from the top.

They are considered very useful in industrial settings because they aid in construction sites. Most of them are made from plastic, metal or wood. Also, they are not just their to reach things but to carry heavy loads such as construction materials or heavy boxes. This is why they are named industrial extension ladders.

But there is a determined type of ladder that is appropriate for a particular task. What is considered here is the heaviness of the work and the height of the reaching point. Because of this, five categories were devised. They are the special duty, extra duty, heavy duty, medium duty and light duty. They are specifically made to cater the appropriate load to carry.

Each particular duty has a right ladder to use. They are qualified for the suited load, correct height, and type of work. The proper selection of its type also have to be observed so as to diminish accidents along the way, and to make the work easier to accomplish.

Other than that, there are a few more safety reminders that you have to abide in. There have been so many accidents that are linked to ladders since then such as obtaining injuries and bruises and worst is death. Common reasons are the lack of knowledge and the negligence to pre check.

So in order to avoid these, you have to make sure that it is still safe to use. When you notice that it has not been used for a long time already, check if it is still perfect or if it has fallen, see if the parts are still in place. If you got it from a muddy place or if it is wet perhaps be sure to clean it first.

You should also be oriented of its proper distancing from the wall. Accidents related to this are very common. It is because people do not mind or just do not know. They just put it in place without even thinking if their weight might turn it the other way around. Make sure that the distance is enough to support your weight so as to avoid hazards along the way.

During the wet and windy days, you can use it provided you know the control measures. They are not as firm as trees. They can easily be pushed by the wind especially if they face its direction. Wet areas can cause it to slip. That is why you must be alert.

Two types of extension ladders are also made. They are called the straight extension and stepladder. These two are different mainly because of their bases. The former has only a single base while the latter has a double. The former is most helpful in reaching things from a very high place while the latter is best to use for reaching boxes from above or in a closet.
