Exploring The Types Of New York City Food Tours

New York City food tours provide wonderful opportunities to explore the diverse culture and cuisine of this bustling city. There are a wide variety of options available, and they usually run on regular schedules. Among them are excursions which focus on wine and dessert, craft beers, and cheese and chocolate. Regional options are available as well. They include explorations of Chinatown, Greenwich Village, Chelsea Marketplace, Meatpacking District, NoLita (North of Little Italy), Lower East Side, and Downtown.

The Lower East Side is home to some of the city's finest designer boutiques and best eateries. The journeys into this region often highlight an array of beverage and food tastings. Among them are savory Mexican bites, fresh-baked bialys, exotically-flavored popcorn, crunchy sour pickles, Neapolitan pizza, authentic Greek souvlaki, fair trade coffees, and gourmet donuts.

NoLita is a compact neighborhood located between SoHo (South of Houston Street), Chinatown, and Little Italy. It is characterized by quaint streets, ethnic foods, and impressive architecture. The types of cuisine featured on this excursion may include fresh-baked pastries, home-made mozzarella, banh mi Vietnamese sandwiches, hand-made candy, and savory bites from Vietnam, France, and Mexico. This easy and fun walking tour is open to adults and children who are at least eight years old.

Another tour opportunity involves a visit to the Upper West Side cheese, chocolate, and craft beer excursion. In addition to sampling an assortment of boutique beers, participants may be given tips on how to pair them with delicious desserts. Home-made pastries, varietal dark chocolates, hazelnut gelato, fresh-baked cookies, chocolate bon bons and truffles, and artisan cheeses are often included on the menu. This two and one-half hour walking tour is only open to individuals who are 21 years of age and older.

The Downtown chocolate, wine, and cheese excursions visit both the SoHo and NoLita neighborhoods. Many trips begin in historic SoHo, continue through Little Italy, and conclude in NoLita. The samplings along this route may feature a selection of fine wines from Chile, including sparkling, red, and white. European cheeses, hand-made candies, dark chocolates, and artisan truffles are frequently among the featured foods.

A top chef journey throughout the city is often interactive. The trek features stops at numerous neighborhoods, landmarks, shops, and restaurants which were visited by many notable top chefs. Destinations along this route often include a cooking school as well.

Participants may learn how to use various knives and have opportunities to ask a pastry chef questions. The tasty treats featured along the way include artisan cheeses in Little Italy, a bite in Chinatown, and signature sandwiches. This relaxed tour usually requires about three hours to complete.
