Buying a Hookah That Suits Your Taste

By John McCree

All hookahs are not made the same, and selecting a hookah is not always as easy as it seems. Before buying a hookah you must have a good idea of how you will use the hookah. A few questions that will help in making a good buying decision are:

1. Will I use the hookah routinely or occasionally?

2. Will it be a permanent accessory in my house? Will I need to move it?

3. Will the size matter?

4. While not using will I keep it as a decoration or not?

5. What number of people will usually be smoking the hookah in a smoking session?

6. What must be the duration of a smoking session?

7. Do I want the hookah to complement the dcor of my home or a particular room?

By answering the above questions you will have a better idea of the hookah you should get.

Where Can You Look for a Hookah

Just like several consumer products nowadays, hookahs are available both in stores and on the internet. If you visit a shisha shop, you may consult an expert who can help you in selecting a hookah. And then there is the benefit that you can inspect the hookah physically before buying it.

Buying online can be very easy as you can purchase a hookah from the convenience of your home. Make sure the online shop you choose has a good reputation on the Internet.

Different Types of Hookahs

While this list is not all-encompassing, below are a few common types of hookahs to consider, which are suited for different tastes, uses, and budgets:

1. Egyptian Hookah - Really common, traditional, reasonably priced hookah, characterized by large, thin stems, and normally made from copper, brass, or stainless steel.

2. Syrian Hookah - Less common than Egyptian hookahs and therefore somewhat more costly, characterized by a hoseport with more of an upward angle.

3. Crystal Hookah - The elegance of crystal hookah separates it from other kinds of hookahs. They are towards the high budget side and can be used as a piece of decoration in the home.

4. Rotating Hookah - These hookahs are typically made of stainless steel and characterized by a rotating base at the bottom, which allows the entire hookah to swivel 360 degrees for easy hose passing. The swiveling feature adds small cost.

5. Mini Hookah - Like the name suggests these hookahs are small size and perfect for those who travel quite a bit. They are generally low-priced.

6. Specialty Hookah - The price tag on a specialty hookah will vary according to your requirements. These are best hookahs for individuals who want unique design.

Before Making the Purchase

Before making a purchase, you should test out different types of hookahs. At the end of the day, whilst all hookahs essentially have identical components and produce a similar result, you may find that certain characteristics create a better smoking experience for you. For example, bigger hookahs (x inches plus) often need more suction in order to smoke. Many smokers find this too much effort, and would prefer to smoke a smaller hookah. Furthermore, a larger bowl (typically holds x ounces of shisha) can last considerably more than average bowls (made for x ounces of shisha).

If you have the convenience of having hookah bars in the vicinity of your home, you can get practice by trying a number of different hookahs before purchasing yours. You will use the hookah regularly for a long period, so ensure that you make a fine purchase.
