Essential Carry-On Items During Long UK Flights

By Elnora Mauer

There are certain items that are crucial to be brought aboard UK flights, especially if it's a long one. Having them in your carry-on luggage can make for a more tolerable air travel. So when making a check list of items to place in your bag, see to it that the following things aren't missed.

Whether OTC or prescribed ones, important medications have to be within your easy reach. Ensure that you have something to take for body aches, diarrhea and some other commonly encountered issues. It's not all the time that the brand you prefer is available at your destination, so bring along some stock just to be on the safe side.

A reading material helps make time seem to fly really quickly. It's during your air travel that you can read that novel you've always wanted to enjoy. You may also bring magazines, or simply pick some of them at the airport. A great read would be something about UK, especially if it's your first time there, to help you become more familiar with it.

Gadgets you can bring for entertainment come aplenty. Fortunately, their compact sizes make them take up very little space in your carry-on baggage. They may even fit in your pocket too. Bring your multimedia or MP3 player, pocket gaming console or e-book reader. Don't forget your noise-cancelling earphones as well.

It can be difficult to travel with little children. When you're taking a trip with your kids, see to it that you have some of the toys they love to play with. Go for those that don't eat up lots of space. Also, steer clear of toys that produce blaring noise which can irk the passengers. Don't hand them all to the kids at once so that there's something new to take out each time.

A happy tummy makes for a happy passenger in a long-haul flight. Don't forget to bring snacks that are easy to pack and eat. Some good suggestions include nuts, trail mix, dried fruits, vegetable sticks, cookies, crackers and granola bars. Steer clear of oily and hard-to-digest ones, as well as those which will fill the cabin with a strong smell.

Long-haul UK flights are best spent sleeping to help rejuvenate you. It's important to bring essentials like a sleeping mask and earplugs. Cabin temperature may get really freezing at times. Bring something to keep you comfortable like a jacket, additional pair of thick socks and a small blanket. Don't forget a small pillow too.
