Choosing The Right Island Vacation Rentals

By Marguerite Stanton

The right type of island accommodations like Kauai vacation rentals can be found easily if travelers know which city or destination they want to use a base. Many tourists in Kauai prefer the north shore hotspots like Hanalei Bay or Princeville. But hold off on that for a bit, because there's a lot more to Kauai than just these two places.

The south shore of the Garden Island has the famed Poipu Beach. The southeast area has Lihue, which has the convenience of the island's main airport and the biggest shopping mall. Kapaa is a short distance away on the east coast and is the most heavily populated area on the island with plenty of affordable rental properties. Waimea is the main town on the west coast.

Those who plan to spend a week or least 3-4 days will most likely want to stay in the north or south. The latter has two viable choices in Hanapepe and Poipu. As for the north, Princeville and Hanalei are the prime choices. But there are a large number of properties listed for the coastal belt between Hanalei and Hanae.

The Lawai and Pee Roads are the main places where visitors can find rental properties in Poipu. Look for the ones which are nearest to the beach. An unobstructed ocean view with a lanai is desirable, but even partial ocean view homes can be just as good.

The best Hanalei properties can be found on Weke Road or the Kuhoi Highway. The Princeville listings are spread around between Queen Emma's Drive, Lei O Papa Rd., Ka Haku Road and Edward Road. High-speed broadband is a must-have amenity, and most homes will offer Wi-Fi.

Everything from small 1-bedroom apartments and condos to large private homes with their own pools, parking garage and BBQ grills are available all over the island. Most kauai vacation rentals enforce a non-smoking policy. Pet owners need to talk to the agent or property owner beforehand if their pet policy is not specified.

Difference Between A Rental Home Or Hotel For A Vacation

By Marguerite Stanton

During a New Zealand vacation, there are many differing places where someone may stay along the road. One truly inexpensive means of looking for a certain place where you can sleep well at night is camping. But if this is an impossible option, people will end up confused if they will rather stay in the hotels or rental homes.

In existence is a number of reasons for a certain option to be much better unlike the other, and this varies according to your situation. The initial consideration will involve the time of your stay. If this lasts only for one or maybe two mights, the additional expenses like cleaning deposits which rentals have is probably undesirable.

You also need to think about what you need in an accommodation as well as your budget. For instance, when heading to snowy areas for skiing with many family members or friends, you may find that availing of a rental where many people can be accommodated is cheaper despite having the cleaning deposit.

If, however, you prefer flexibility when speaking about travel arrangements, rentals might not be desirable because you must pay them. Such is despite cancellations being done ahead of time. Even if you would cancel your stay, there exist fees which may still end up issued.

Opting for a hotel, in this instance, is considerable. This is because many of these establishments allow cancellations until the day prior to traveling, making these a better choice for certain people.

Still, another disadvantage with rentals is the responsibility in having this cleaned. You might appreciate hotels, which offer housekeeping everyday. This is really appreciated should you get home from sightseeing.

The rentals where one may stay for a New Zealand vacation, however, are still cleaned once you leave. However, you might be required to have a part in cleaning. Otherwise, you will be assessed a higher amount.

Ideas For A Great Family Vacation

By Ian Tate

Taking your family on vacation can present a challenge, as not everyone will have the same notion of what constitutes the ideal holiday. There are destinations that doesn't appeal to everyone although they are considered family friendly.

Your first consideration if you are to choose a destination is the age of your children. Before making travel arrangements, there are destinations that are suitable for particular age groups and you need to investigate them first.

Making a holiday destination that's more fun for your children is what you sometimes need to do as a parent. An example would be a beach vacation which is more than just a swimming vacation. Give your children some buckets, spades, and fishing nets and you can build sand castles, fish in rock pools, or collect sea shells. But there are some beaches like the South Beach in Miami which are not suitable for children because it caters for adults and has a vibrant night life.

Amusement parks are another popular destination for families as they provide entertainment for all ages. You can find amusement parks anywhere in the world and smaller amusement parks are even found in popular holiday destinations so that you can spend a day being entertained. You can spend a week or more exploring all the activities the larger parks have to offer because they have accommodation on site. In most amusement parks, there will be activities for older children, rides suitable for toddlers, and rides for teens and adults.

Another popular family vacation is a camping trip to a state park. Camping is more affordable than a hotel, and camping in itself can be an adventure for young children. Fishing, boating, and hiking are among the outdoor activities which are available at many camping grounds. Posing as a serious danger to young children are woods, lakes, and rivers so make sure your kids don't wander off unsupervised. A hiking or mountain biking vacation can be combined with your camping trip when the children are old enough.

While your children are young, it is advisable to find a holiday destination that caters for them. There is nothing worse than bored, frustrated kids on holiday, and everyone will have more fun if the kids are kept busy. The need to party the night away will be outweighed when you create family memories even though you and your partner can't participate in many adult activities.

10 Ways To Make A Car Trip With The Kids Fun

By Ian Tate

As airplane tickets continue to rise in costs, with customs becoming stricter, families are deciding to go on vacation via car to save on money. Most of us with young children are returning to the days we grew up in where we traveled most places by car with our parents.

Here's ten tips to help your car vacation go a lot easier:

Ask your children whether they would prefer to travel in the daytime or in the evening. Which ever it is plan your travel to match, for this us our kids don't travel well in the morning they do much better if we leave after 2:00pm and travel into the evening.

If you have small children, then bring their favorite coloring books or games with them, with enough crayons and colored pencils, and if you have older kids or teens, then an iPod or travel journal would do - bring enough snacks for everybody to enjoy.

Take along Gameboys & games, personal CD/cassette players (even for little kids), and you can get books on tape from the library.

Do consider a portable DVD player, this makes 5 or 6 hour a day seem like 2 hours. Since your kids will be so focused on the cartoon they're watching, they'll spend less time pestering you to stop over for something.

Instead of carrying a suitcase per person and going on nightly stops, maybe you can try this instead. Pack a 3 day bag into which each person contributes 3 days worth of clothes. This way you take one suitcase of clothes in every three days.

Do pack a lightweight table cloth for outdoor lunch stops along the way.

Be sure to take the digital camera you'll create lifetime memories.

Do get postcards from every major destination along the way.

All kids are different but in general don't drive as far as the adults can go in one day, try to keep car travel to a 6 to 8 hour range of time.

Last, but not the least, avoid filling up your car with all your personal belongings and leaving your kids with precious little space - consider buying a car topper instead.
